NETGEAR redfines storage for the mid-market

The new ReadyDATA 5200 offers enterprise-class unified storage with unrivaled simplicity and affordability

SYDNEY — 11 July, 2012 — NETGEAR has launched the ReadyDATA 5200, a new enterprise-class unified storage product targeted at SMBs and SMEs. It is the first product of its kind to include cloud-managed data replication as a standard feature. The ReadyDATA 5200 has been designed to make technology that was previously too complex and financially inaccessible available to the mid-market.

The ReadyDATA 5200 offers full-featured disk-based storage suitable for backup for SMBs right through to SMEs. It is also the ideal storage platform to provide high-performance and increased storage capacity required for SMB virtualisation environments. With a simple pricing structure, resellers and end-users can also avoid complex licensing, expensive installation specialists and incremental maintenance agreements.

The ReadyDATA 5200 was designed from the ground up based on feedback from the channel about existing storage solutions for mid-sized organisations. Working with a global team led by an Australian-based storage product architect, NETGEAR purpose built the ReadyDATA 5200 to meet the specific storage needs of the SMB and SME sectors.

"NETGEAR has recognised that small- and mid-size businesses need advanced functionality to meet capacity pressures generated by growing data and the shift to virtualisation," said Ryan Parker, managing director, NETGEAR Australia and New Zealand. "In the past, the jump between basic and advanced storage hardware has been accompanied by unmanageable cost and complexity. The ReadyDATA 5200 breaks new ground for midmarket customers, which has traditionally been overlooked by "big IT‟ vendors."

The ReadyDATA platform delivers enterprise storage features with uncomplicated functionality. For mid-size businesses creating large amounts of unstructured data, users can leverage thin provisioning in virtual environments, replicate files and databases to offsite locations and recover data from unlimited

point-in-time snapshots, all with just a few mouse clicks via a graphic-based user interface. Combined with the world's first cloud-managed replication included as standard, the ReadyDATA 5200 enables secure, high-performance and speedy disaster recovery to limit downtime in the event of a network failure.

"The ReadyDATA 5200 offers a simple and efficient back-up solution that will significantly reduce costs for the end-user," said Mark Dutton, managing director, Datamerge, a NETGEAR Platinum Plus Partner. "With regular data snapshots and unmatched ease of use, SMB IT managers are armed with the ability to restore their networks without the need for expensive IT specialists and with minimal downtime."

The NETGEAR ReadyDATA 5200 offers a full set of datacentre-class storage capabilities, such as:

  • Thin provisioning, compression and de-duplication of block (SAN) and file (NAS) data
  • Replication over 128-bit SSL connections for block and file data
  • Unlimited snapshots for block and file data
  • Scalability up to 60 drives and 180TB total capacity
